Culture starts with the team – for Daniel Stoller and square pie guys, culture begins with clear expectations about the needs of the team. He and his business partner, Marc Schechter, emphasize clear expectations and pivots if and when a problem is systemic.
learning grows – Daniel Stoller, as he put it, was “a famous college dropout”. While he might throw an academic book in the trash, he has successfully grown as a restaurant leader by consuming information outside the industry and finding his own community.
next domino – Daniel Stoller strives to make square pie guys This generation’s dominoes, but not in the first way that comes to mind. Located in Silicon Valley, SGP uses advanced technology to consistently provide a high level of service.

Daniel Stoller, co-founder and CEO of Square Pie Guys (@squarepieguys), is eager to turn his fast-growing pizza business into “the dominoes of our generation.”
“Today, every company needs to use technology to do better,” Stoller said of Domino’s Pizza hosting Shawn P. Walchef Cali Grill Media on the Restaurant Influencer Podcast. “They’ve built an incredible technology stack.”
With its location in the middle of Silicon Valley, it’s no surprise that emerging restaurant technologies like Toast have played a major role in Square Pie Guys’ growth. Using 27 different software products during business operations may seem like an overkill, but the team has figured it out.
As Stoller said, “That’s not what makes us different. What makes us different is that we’ve found an operating model that can be successful at high volume and do it in a very consistent way. Achieving, all in one package, looks really exciting and tastes delicious.”
Creating such a functional model requires trust. Trust can only be gained in a business with a strong culture. However, instead of citing his ideas about how things should go, the pizza company’s CEO was able to use his past experience to encourage a unique collaborative culture that started with his team.
“For me, culture really starts with understanding what makes a team happy or what they need,” says Daniel Stoller. Square Pie Guys’ healthy culture creates a level of trust to articulate expectations and work with the likes of former NBA players and Bay Area heroes, Jeremy Lin.
The word unconventional aptly describes Daniel Stoller and Square Pizza Guys. The “famous high school dropout” executes SGP’s vision with his unconventional approach to learning and absorbing information.
“Media consumption is huge for me,” Stoller said of his approach to learning. “I think you have to find your community.”
Daniel Stoller and Square Pie Guys have successfully found both online and offline communities. The community will continue to expand with the help of a strong technology stack including Toast POS.
