With reduced specs, increased microtransactions, and a lack of controller support, it felt like smartphone gaming never really lived up to its potential.
Asus has been trying to change that perception with its ROG (Republic of Gamers) series of smartphones. This trend continues today’s announcement ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro.
ASUS
These are true gamer phones with matching specs. Both phones feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, 6.78-inch OLED screen, 6,000mAh battery, at least 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of internal storage.
The OLED screen is optimized for gaming with a 165Hz refresh rate and 720Hz touch sampling rate for high-performance options and lag-free control input. The phones also feature advanced cooling technology, such as a large vapor chamber and optional Aeroactive Cooler accessory, which is essentially a clip-on fan/controller hybrid.
what makes Phone 6 Pro Is it worth the price increase? It includes more RAM, 18GB, but the real highlight is the second screen. You read that right. The Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro has another OLED display on the back, which makes it easy to receive auxiliary information while gaming (like the Nintendo DS and 3DS handheld systems of the time.)
The ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro are launching in Europe soon, but no date has been given. The company said they will launch in the US, India and the rest of the world at a later date.
