Apple just announced the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max during the company’s “Far Out” live product launch event.
The new flagship iPhone models are Full of advanced features, all powered by the new A16 Bionic mobile chipset, which Apple calls “the fastest chip in a smartphone.” This translates into greater efficiency and better performance, as well as increased memory bandwidth for games and other software-intensive applications.

Aside from the new A16 chip, there are a lot of differences between these models from the standard iPhone 14 that was released at the same time. First, there’s the all-new Super Retina XDR display, which has the same always-on technology as the latest Apple Watch iteration. The display automatically dims when not in use, but stays on so you can quickly access important information.
The screen’s brightness is 1,600 nits, which is equivalent to the company’s standalone Pro Display XDR. It also comes with a moveable animated top-level device called Dynamic Island. This touch-enabled notch displays useful information like battery status, related alerts, music playing, and more.
The camera system is rumored to be getting a massive upgrade here. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max feature a 48-megapixel quad-pixel sensor, a huge jump from the 12-megapixel sensor in the previous iteration. This translates into better performance in low light conditions, more detailed zoom, and full integration with the ProRAW format for higher levels of detail.

Photos benefit from the new adaptive flash, which is twice as bright as other iPhone flash systems. As for video, there’s a new “Motion Mode” that automatically applies gimbal-like stabilization to fast-moving footage.
Like many of today’s announcements, the new iPhone 14 Pro includes collision detection software and a satellite-based SOS mode when you’re traveling in areas without WiFi or cellular.
Even with all these advancements, Apple says the iPhone 14 Pro lineup has all-day battery life, but doesn’t give exact numbers. Pre-orders for the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max will begin on September 9, with availability starting September 16. The Pro starts at $1,000, and the Pro Max starts at $1,100.
