Murf AI, a synthetic speech technology startup that is changing the way voice-overs are created, has raised $10 million in a Series A round led by Matrix Partners India, with existing investor Elevation Capital and well-known angel investors such as Ajay Arora (Disney Streamer). The startup is working to bridge the diversity gap that exists in traditional text-to-speech platforms by ensuring that voices with different accents such as African American, British and Australian English are included. In a statement, Murf claims that Murf’s curated voice library contains more than 120 lifelike AI voices in more than 20 languages, ideal for those on a tight budget but want to create voiceovers at scale.

Founded in October 2020 by Sneha Roy, Ankur Edkie, and Divyanshu Pandey, Murf provides an AI-enabled SaaS tool that allows users to generate “human-like” voiceovers for videos and presentations without the need for complex recording equipment or hiring a voiceover artist.
