The iPhone 14 will be available on September 7, and the surprises are endless.
apple Fall iPhone Events It’s almost upon us that rumors and leaks point to a strange mix of old and new. For example, Apple typically keeps the design of the iPhone body for two years before making changes, so this year should see the new shape (after the iPhone 12 and 13 share the design). But that won’t happen. This year’s focus will likely be on screens and cameras.
“I’m most looking forward to periscope cameras, photography enthusiasts and software developers Stavros Zafrakas Tell Lifewire via email. “Photography is my hobby and higher quality resolution is essential. With the periscope camera on the iPhone, I can avoid buying a high-end camera.”
Detection time
We expect the iPhone 14 Pro to get a new screen design. It will ditch the notch in favor of a pill/hole punch design to contain the front-facing camera, which might look like a fat exclamation mark placed on its side. This may seem very strange at first, but we get used to it, as we did with the iPhone X’s bangs.
“I’ve seen many tweets expressing concern that the hole punch is more intrusive than the notch. I’ve been using an Android phone with a hole punch for years and here’s what I think,” the UI designer and Apple blogger wrote road Matt Birchler on his blog“After spending more time with both styles of phones, I completely changed my stance and now I think the hole punch is better in every way.”

Like recent Apple Watches, the iPhone 14 Pro will almost certainly be on display at all times. Instead of turning off the screen while your phone sleeps, you’ll see the time and whatever widgets you choose to display with iOS 16’s new lock screen widgets feature. This will make information clear at a glance and may end up making the iPhone less (or more) distracting.
The Apple Watch maintains its display at all times by dropping the screen’s refresh rate to just 1Hz or updating every second during sleep. The iPhone 14 Pro will likely do the same, with a similar refresh rate to the iPad Pro. Pro iPhones already boost the refresh rate to 120Hz when on the move, and lower the refresh rate when the screen is stationary. This will be an extension of it.
camera, action
Another big change we expect is the camera. Apple could jump to 48MP from the 12MP sensor size it has preferred over the years. However, that doesn’t mean your iPhone storage will fill up with photos four times as fast. Instead, the camera app will take those 48 megapixels and use their data to develop higher quality 12MP images. This is especially useful in low light to reduce noise and increase detail.
We might also see a new periscope camera design in one or both iPhones. Currently, lens size is limited by the thickness of the phone, which is why we have camera bumps. Periscope cameras place the lens on its side and use a mirror (or prism) to reflect (or refract) the light 90 degrees before hitting the sensor. This will allow longer telephoto lenses to be used.
Initial rumors said this would first appear on the iPhone 15 in 2023, but fingers are crossed this year.

14 on 14 Pro
Another change this year is that we expect the non-Pro iPhone 14 to remain Using the same A15 SoC (SoC) The iPhone 13 uses today, and only the Pro model gets the new A16 chip.
And… who cares? A-series chips have been fast enough over the years. They’re so fast that Apple now uses more sophisticated variants in its Macs. Nobody needs their phone to be faster or more powerful. We want better cameras, longer battery life, and, yes, really. That’s what keeps us upgrading our phones, especially in years when there’s no new form factor to excite us.
If this happens, we can assume that the regular iPhone will always be a year behind the iPhone Pro in terms of SoC. This will make Apple more money because older hardware is cheaper and easier to manufacture, but it could also mean the Pro model pushes things harder because the cost can be absorbed.
It’s shaping up to be a very exciting iPhone launch, despite the lack of a new shape. After all, it’s what’s inside that counts, right?
