IT company Infosys Ltd. warned its employees not to take part-time jobs in an email sent on Sept. 12, saying such activities would lead to contract termination.

“No two times, no part time, no double life. Part time is not permitted under the employee code of conduct and any violation will result in disciplinary action that may include termination of employment. Employees may not undertake other tasks during or outside business hours ,” the email read.
“Dual employment is not permitted at Infosys. As expressly stated in your offer letter, you agree not to accept employment as a full-time or part-time director/partner/member/employee of any other organization/entity. Without the consent of Infosys Form of commercial activity. Consent may be subject to any terms and conditions the company deems appropriate and may be withdrawn at any time in the company’s sole discretion,” it added in the email.
Part-time jobs became one of the most discussed topics during the pandemic when cultural jobs began to spread across companies. While food delivery platform Swiggy allows its employees to do any other get off work after hours, some other companies oppose part-time policies. Among them, Wipro chairman Rishad Premji’s statement on the part-time policy has drawn attention. He said hat, “There’s a lot of small talk about people working part-time in tech. It’s cheating, plain and simple.”
