IT, Communications and Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reportedly said on Thursday that every aspect of the Indian economy is now being digitized at a very rapid pace. BT reportAsked about the abuse of ChatGPT while speaking with Rahul Kanwal, Executive Director of Business Today at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Minister believes that India should be open to ChatGPT and gradually build regulation to prevent its abuse.

“We believe that India Stack has fundamentally changed people’s lives, empowering them, providing them with new tools, and artificial intelligence (AI) will further enhance this. One of the fastest wins is our integration of our Bhashini language AI tool that can translate from one Indian language to another in real time. Spoken, text everything. We integrated it with ChatGPT and achieved great results. People in the hinterland of India can use Hindi language to ask ChatGPT questions. ChatGPT finds the answer and actually gives the answer in spoken Hindi. So, these possibilities exist. Yes, there will be many more important applications such as cybersecurity, healthcare, multiple field. Maybe as AI develops, now is the time to be curious, time to make sure we keep our minds open, time to make sure we reflect on what AI can do for society,” Vaishnaw said in a report.
“We must ensure that the innovation economy we have built can run smoothly and move forward, while all the societal harms we see are properly regulated. We must build regulations incrementally based on experience,” the statement added.
ChatGPT is a chatbot where users can ask questions and the platform with AI (artificial intelligence) will answer them. The company has designed it in such a way that users can get both technical and layman’s replies. On December 1, Sam Altman, the co-founder of OpenAI, officially tweeted that ChatGPT was online and asked his users to try to chat with it. Since then, the platform has reportedly attracted more than 1 million users within its first week.
