EVEN a simple tattoo design can have unpleasant, unintended consequences, as one woman discovered when her floral tattoo ended up resembling a “cat’s butthole.”
Liz McElhaney, who lives in Pittsburgh, PA, shared the embarrassing tattoo online to viewers who called it “unfortunate.”

At first, McElhaney teased her TikTok viewers with a post about the bad tattoo but didn’t show the offensive ink.
She posted a video of herself laughing, then getting quite serious, with her experience briefly described in the caption.
“Me getting my first tattoo wanting a flower but it turns out looking like a perfect replica of a cat’s butthole,” she wrote.
In the comments section, viewers demanded a reveal.
“The whole point of TikTok is to show the funny parts,” coaxed one user, and McElhaney delivered with a video response.
McElhaney’s tattoo, which she said she received in 2017, was placed at the back of her neck, in simple, black linework.
Its simplicity and lack of color contributed to the unappealing appearance, and viewers were eager to join in with teasing McElhaney.
“I thought it couldn’t possibly be that bad…and then I saw it,” wrote a commenter.
“Girl, that’s a straight bootyhole on your neck you poor thing.”
“Did a cat do this? Was he your artist?” asked one person.
“Well, you’re not wrong about it,” quipped another person.
To her credit, McElhaney had a good sense of humor.
“Just doing my duty,” she wrote back, including a string of crying-laughing emojis.
Some viewers did worry that the unlucky woman was still walking around with the obscene image stamped on her person, but McElhaney reassured them in a pinned comment.
“This tattoo has been fixed everyone!” she wrote.
Though she didn’t post a picture, McElhaney told viewers she added details to make the tattoo more botanical and less anatomical.
“There’s a stem and more details and shading,” she explained. “It looks SO much better now.”
