Amazon Prime Day It’s a two-day sale where Prime subscribers can find exclusive deals on hundreds of products through online retailers, but there are plenty of other discounts for non-members. This year, Prime Day is set for July 12-13, but you can already get a ton of great deals on some of our favorite products. From Amazon Fire-enabled TVs and speakers to third-party devices, here are some of our favorite early Prime Day 2022 deals.

At first glance, this might not seem like a deal, but it’s the lowest price we’ve tracked for the 55-inch model (it first dropped to that price in mid-June). This is most of our favorite TV (9/10, WIRED recommendation). It has a quantum dot panel that delivers bright colors and utilizes local dimming zones to deliver deeper blacks for your movies and shows. It has a built-in Roku interface, and the Micro-LED backlight provides excellent contrast.
That price just recently hit an all-time low. This is one of the most beautiful TVs we’ve tested. The bezels are ultra-thin, the OLED panel is fantastic, offers deep blacks and rich colors, and it has an Android TV interface, which means you can cast to it from your phone, too. It has odd feet on the ends, so unless you have a large TV stand, it’s best to mount it on the wall.
This is Hisense’s basic entry-level TV, but we love the brand and trust its build quality, unlike some other generic Amazon TVs we haven’t tested. You get Dolby Vision high dynamic range support (read: prettier colors), as well as built-in Fire TV for streaming your favorite Amazon shows.
This is another one that doesn’t look like a deal, but this price is only $2 above the lowest price we tracked (from early June last year). The U8G (8/10, WIRED Recommends) features a sleek design, an Android TV interface and a raised stand to mount the soundbar underneath. Its excellent local dimming translates into a strong contrast to quantum dot panels, and you also get a 120-Hz screen refresh rate. Pair it with a PC with an AMD card to take advantage of AMD FreeSync support for smoother gaming.
If you’ve been shopping for a bigger screen, this is one of the best discounts we’ve seen on a 65-inch model in months. It comes with Fire TV for easy streaming and Amazon shopping, plus full-array local dimming means black levels and highlights look better than cheaper screens. This is a Prime exclusive deal, so you need to be a subscriber.
Everyone should have a soundbar. The Streambar combines Roku streaming capabilities with 14-inch Dolby speakers. While it’s best for smaller rooms and TVs, the Streambar can make a big difference to the audio quality of your binge-watching experience.There’s even a night listening mode to quiet down the explosions of action movies and keep your game of Thrones Rewatching will not disturb sleeping roommates.
There are newer and slightly more advanced versions of this streaming stick on the market, but the Roku Streaming Stick 4K is still a solid option. The Roku interface is one of our favorites, and conveniences like voice control and volume buttons add to our list of reasons why we recommend the Roku to most people. Remember, while this is a great deal, it’s something we’ve seen before.
Part of the brand’s extensive lineup of devices, this Roku fills in the gaps that your TV may or may not be. It is capable of displaying 4K content in HDR10 on compatible devices. If your TV mentions Ultra HD or High Dynamic Range (HDR), it’s probably one of the models that could benefit from this streaming stick. In addition to better resolution compatibility, the Express 4K Plus features voice search and onboard TV control. This is one of the lowest prices we have seen.
This basic streaming stick doesn’t have many bells and whistles — no voice search, onboard volume controls, or 4K compatibility. What it has is the cheapest price tag we’ve seen so far. Roku devices are sold very frequently, but if you’re on a very limited budget or you haven’t upgraded to a 4K TV, there’s no reason to spend the extra cash. Amazon Device Deals
Some of these are exclusive to Amazon Prime members, and there’s a good chance they’ll get even cheaper when Prime Day kicks off. The deals are part of a larger sale on Amazon devices. Read our guides to the best Kindles, the best Fire tablets, and the best streaming devices for more advice.
I love the Echo Dots (8/10, recommended by WIRED) more than any other smart speaker. They’re tiny, sound pretty good, and are great for sleep sounds, timers, and a quick weather check. Last Prime Day, it was as low as $25, so it’s one of the lowest prices we’ve seen. Be sure to read our guide on how to keep your Amazon Echo as private as possible.
The newer 2021 Kindle Paperwhite is the best Kindle for most people, but the older generation is still solid—and, thanks to this discount, $50 less. The 2019 version lacks USB-C charging and the newer version’s improved display, but it still has a backlight and adjustable warm light. Learn more in our in-depth review. The deal brings the price $5 higher than what we saw at Prime Day last year. Kindle for Kids is also available. Note: It’s possible that new releases will go on sale at the start of Prime Day, so keep that in mind if you’re in the market.
A newer, more expensive generation of the device is available, but it’s still a capable option for those who prefer Alexa over Google Assistant. Compared to the smaller, cheaper Echo Show 5 (described below), it’s worth the extra $20 for the larger display. The Show 8 is relatively compact, but has enough screen for the smart display’s fun and frivolous functions, like viewing recipes or lyrics. The price is $5 less than what we’ve seen before.
We generally prefer Google Assistant smart displays to Amazon Alexa, and prefer the larger, more expensive Echo Show 8 to the Echo Show 5. In our review, we said that the Show 5’s small display is a bit small and can’t adequately perform some of the tasks most people want. It’s still a great monitor for a nightstand or desk, but if you want more screen real estate, it’s probably not the best choice. A physical mute button and camera shutter are nice—especially when dealing with smart devices where privacy is paramount. This deal makes the Echo Show 5 $10 cheaper than anything we’ve seen before. That’s the lowest price on an Amazon fitness tracker we’ve ever tracked. Senior associate editor Adrienne So says it’s comfortable to wear, but it recommends taking off your underwear to measure your body fat composition. It can perform the usual fitness tracker functions, such as tracking steps, heart rate, sleep and blood oxygen levels.
This is the best price we’ve seen for the most basic Fire TV Stick. It streams in HD, but not 4K. Those who have used other Amazon smart devices will find the interface familiar. The remote has Alexa voice control and power and volume buttons. If you have a 4K TV, it’s worth waiting until Prime Day kicks off to see if the Fire TV Stick 4K goes on sale (it usually does).
More tech deals
WIRED senior associate editor Adrienne So calls the Apple Watch SE (8/10, WIRED’s recommendation) the best Apple Watch for most people, making this a great time to grab it at a discount. It doesn’t have all the health features of the high-end Apple Watch Series 7 (also $329), but it has most of the features you need every day. Read our Apple Watch guide for more details.
The Fitbit Charge 5 (8/10, recommended by WIRED) is our favorite fitness tracker. It’s the best deal we’ve tracked — in fact, the discount brings the price down to match the older-generation Fitbit Charge 4. The Charge 5’s bright display and various sensors make it easy to track every metric you can think of, from basics like steps all the way to heart rate and sleep. Yes, technically Apple has released a new MacBook Pro with an M2 chip, but this pricier 2021 MacBook Pro and its M1 Pro processor are actually much more powerful. This machine is for anyone who needs to perform some serious CPU-intensive tasks, from photo and video editing to 3D rendering. It fell $50 in April, but it’s still a good deal. The Pixelbook Go is a bit old, but it’s still a great, no-frills laptop. It’s a Chromebook, so it’s a good choice for anyone who can work completely away from the Chrome browser (though Android apps are available through the Google Play Store). This model isn’t specifically featured in our guide to the best Bluetooth speakers, but we generally like JBL products. The compact Go 3 is designed with portability in mind. The sturdy construction is waterproof and dustproof, making the speaker a great companion for hiking or beach trips. There are discounts on most colors.
