best bluetooth Speakers still have a place in our hearts, even as we’ve seen better (and more portable) smart speakers creep into the universe.
Getting an Amazon Echo or Google Nest speaker to play your favorite tracks or tell you the weather is fun and easy, but smart speakers have a few crutches — solid Wi-Fi first and foremost. By (mostly) ditching voice assistants and Wi-Fi radios, Bluetooth speakers gain portability, the ability to venture outside your house and withstand rugged environments like the beach or a steaming Airbnb Jacuzzi. They also work with any smartphone and sound just as good as a smart speaker.
We’ve tested hundreds of models over the past few years, and we’re happy to say they’re still some of the best small devices you can listen to. This is our current favorite.
